[NC10]NC10 speakers removed and replaced with another pair, now with pictures!

I have been so-so satisfied with the speakers of the NC10 and I have now changed them again but this time to a somewhat bigger set of speakers. The internal speakers of the NC10 has the dimensions of 20x10mm but now I have changed them to a pair of VECO 25KC08-N that are a little bit bigger: 25x14mm and the fit just exactly without any modifications. To do this you do have to cut the wires and connect them to the and solder them into place.
The speakers I got from ELFA, VECO 25KC08-N miniature speaker

(Swedish page, but ELFA has stores in many other countries, check out www.elfa.com)
Please note that they are sold as one piece so you have to order 2 to get a set.

The sound is better now, especially at high volume. Sorry I have not pictures of the finished work but I can get back with that soon.

Please also note that this mod will void the warranty.

    Update: Pictures, before and after:

Would anyone know if the speakers from the N95 8Gb would work? I think they are excellent for the size.

fantastic work mate, I've been looking around for some better speakers for a while, but just cant seem to find the right size/power balance.

Looking forward also to the pictures, I'd love to see how you made room, I'm thinking careful dremel would be my best option.

quick question...what kind of wattage (pmpo) difference is it between the standard speakers in the nc10 and these new ones?

The standard speakers are 1.5W x 2 i.e totally 3W. These new ones are 2W x 2 = 4W. The better sound is however probably much due to the larger size, you don't get that "squeeky" sound anymore.

Also note that is is not necessary to make room for the new speakers in any way, you don't have to cut away any plastic, these speakers fit anyway.

Update: Pictures now posted, see first post in this thread!

That would be possible yes. You could get a pair of speaker wires first and do it that way instead.

How are the speakers mounted? Are they screwed in or clipped in?
